The Launchpad is an incubator for students that aids the development of business plans and small business growth

With a gift from Irwin Zahn and the Moxie Foundation, the Zahn Innovation Center opened in 2012. In 2016 the name was changed to the ZIP. Since its opening, the ZIP has been supporting San Diego State University innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs as they transform their ideas into companies.

The Lavin Entrepreneurship Center has been working in collaboration with the ZIP to expand the capabilities of SDSU students. This launchpad provides a holistic approach in the preparation of the next generation of entrepreneurs. The Lavin Entrepreneurship Center focuses on building and developing entrepreneurial competencies in students through programs, internships, and curriculum. The ZIP is an on campus commercial and social incubator for all aspiring entrepreneurs including staff, faculty, and students.

The mission of the ZIP is two-fold: 1) provide once in a lifetime entrepreneurial experience and training to our participants that complements their educational experience at SDSU and 2) launch fundable enterprises that are sustainable. This platform currently host 40 teams and over 100 student participants.

The ZIP invites the opportunity for teams to apply to be admitted into the incubator. Accepted teams have access to a variety of free resources including 24/7 collaborative working spaces, business acumen provided by the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center, pro bono legal services, a mentor, prototyping services, assistance building their team with SDSU talent, and much more. All of the resources made available to our participants are provided at no cost.

Information on the ZIP can be found on their website.
