Strategic Growth Planning for Entrepreneurs Application

The Lavin Entrepreneurship Center is proud to partner with San Diego Gas & Electric to deliver the Strategic Growth Planning for Entrepreneurs Program at San Diego State University. Please take the time to review the application carefully, make notes on providing us with the information required, then come back and complete the application in its entirety.

  • Qualified businesses are certified as women-owned, minority-owned or both as defined by General Order 156. This also includes "disabled veteran business enterprise", a business concern certified by the administering agency.
  • "Woman-owned" (section 1.3.2) is a business at least 51% owned by one or more women, and whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more women.
  • "Minority-owned" (section 1.3.3) is a business at least 51% owned by one or more minority individuals, and whose management and daily operations are controlled by one or more minority individuals. Recognized minorities include Asian Americans, African Americans, Hispanic Americans and Native Americans, among others.
  • It is a sole proprietorship , subsidiary or joint venture at least 51 percent owned by one or more disabled veterans or, in the case of a publicly owned business, at least 51 percent of its stock is owned by one or more disabled veterans.The company must generate over $1 million in revenue annually and have been in business for over 3 years.

How did you learn about the Program?

In designing this program, we aim to customize its content to increase the value to you as a business leader. Please list the top three goals for your business in the short- or long term. Your responses will allow us to tailor the program to best meet your needs.

Part of this program involves designing and executing a business improvement project to improve one specific aspect of your business or to pursue a new opportunity. Thinking of your business and your current business operations, please identify one or more areas of your business where you think we might help - think about which business-related issues keeps you up at night. Issues may include:

  • Effective budgeting or cash management
  • Marketing and sales
  • Accounting or other regulatory compliance
  • Materials management/inventory
  • Leadership
  • Recruiting and retention
  • Business planning
  • Strategic planning and clear value propositions

If your application is approved, we will notify you and request the $500 program cost which you can pay by check or online.

*The information you provide on this application will only be used by the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center and SDG&E to evaluate your application for the Strategic Growth Planning for Entrepreneurs Program and will not be shared with any third parties unless required to resolve a legal dispute or by legal process.
