WebCompass Fall 2015 Projects
During the spring 2015 semester, the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center collaborated on an exciting WebCompass project with the John G. Watson Foundation. The team identified was tasked with developing a website to increase visibility for the organization. The students worked on the layout and design of the website, writing content, search engine optimization (SEO), and social media tool integration. John G. Watson Foundation
The John G. Watson Foundation was established in 2012 by the San Diego Tech Coast Angels (TCA) as a memorial fund in honor of John G. Watson, who was an active angel investor with the TCA until his untimely death in 2010. The Foundation utilizes investment earnings from the Watson family to fund activities that promote entrepreneurship in Southern California. The goal of this project was to design a website for the Foundation in order to increase prominence for the organization. The new website will assist the Foundation to achieve their objective of furthering development of entrepreneurial endeavors in the San Diego region by allowing them to reach more potential partners in the community.
Gichuhi is a graduate student at SDSU pursuing his MA in Journalism and Mass Communication, with a focus on Media Studies. He provides communication support for the various needs at the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center. He completed his undergraduate studies at Penn State University where he received a BA in Media Studies, with a focus on film and television, and a minor in English. Previously, Gichuhi has worked as a Communications Assistant, Social Networking Intern, and Marketing and Promotions Intern primarily assisting with writing and editing print and online content, managing various social media accounts, and promoting various online and in-person events.
Zach Stevens is a junior at San Diego State University pursuing a degree in Graphic Design. His primary focus as a Graphic Designer for the Lavin Center is utilizing creativity to formulate marketable and visually intriguing graphics for web and print. He previously worked for SDSU at Career Services, creating posters, web graphics, and flyers for upcoming events hosted by the department. In his time remaining at SDSU, Zach hopes to branch out into as many aspects of design as possible. All with the intention of becoming an extremely well rounded designer, specializing in a multitude of design facets.
Satya is a graduate student at San Diego State University (SDSU) pursuing his Masters in Computer Science. He received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in India. He has hands-on experience with WordPress, WAMP Server and other web designing technologies. At the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center, he is responsible for developing and updating the Center’s website and enhancing its current design and technologies. He also supports additional websites created and managed by the Center.
