Fall 2013 Event
Start-Up @ State returned to campus this fall as a planned two-part event. This first event brought a new panel of entrepreneurs (from local start-ups), offering students the opportunity to gain from firsthand interactions and learn about the entrepreneurs' professional experiences through the question and answer format.
The event was a great success for all those that attended. We truly thank our four founders for the Start-Up @ State panel series: Robert Schulte from Zurple, Stephan Aarstol from Tower Paddleboards, Zeynep Ilgaz from Confirm Biosciences, and Jeff Bagby from Bagby Beer. The panel was formatted in a way where the founders did quick introductions about how they've built their careers and then students addressed the panel with questions for the next 90 minutes. The panelists shared real success experiences while telling of the hard truths and sacrifices it takes to be an entrepreneur.
Students understood that success does not come easy because growing a business is a 24/7 job with no punch card to clock out at the end of the day. However, all the entrepreneurs agreed that the pursuit of owning a business that is truly yours is the most thrilling feeling in the world. By the end of the panel, students understood that they had to start paving their own success immediately.Event Date:November 5th from 4:00pm to 5:30pm
Start-up @ State is hosted by SDSU Entrepreneur Society and the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center.
