The L. Robert Payne Lecture Series

Bringing Outstanding Entrepreneurs to SDSU

JEFF CHURCH APRIL 29, 2013, Athletics Auditorium at 4 pm

The Lavin Entrepreneurship Center is proud to announce the 14th year of the L. Robert Payne Distinguished Entrepreneur Lecture Series. The lecture series brings an outstanding entrepreneur to San Diego State University to speak to and interact with students, faculty, and invited business representatives from the regional entrepreneurial community. The series was established in 1996 with a gift from SDSU alumnus L. Robert Payne, a successful entrepreneur and long-time supporter of the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center

This year we are pleased to present Jeff Church, co-founder of NIKA water company. Church has had an ambitious and successful entrepreneurial career. After graduating top 25 from Michigan State University, he continued to Harvard Business School. Church’s latest company, NIKA water, serves as a supreme example of a social entrepreneur company. 100% of the profits go to improving sanitation conditions in third countries. Though still a young company, NIKA has committed to over $400,000 to water wells, water catchment systems, plumbing, schools, and trees in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Ethiopia, and Nicaragua.

Church joins a significant line of past lecturers which include:

  • Jim Sinegal, Co-Founder and CEO of Costco
