Public Relations & Outreach Intern

Internship Term: Summer 2016

About the Company
Power Digital Marketing is one of the leading Digital Marketing Agencies in San Diego. We are headquartered in vibrant and fun Old Town, just off the 5 Freeway and a few minutes from Downtown! Our agency specializes in eCommerce and lead generation as a full service digital marketing agency. Power Digital is looking for the next rock star PR intern to join the internship program this spring. This is an opportunity for entry-level self-starters to develop their public relations and managerial skills with a boutique agency team of successful, positive individuals. You will get hands-on experience with real, client-facing projects and have the opportunity to present your work and ideas as well. You’ll be learning from a team assembled of veteran managers from agencies around town, and our goal is to train you up to become the digital space’s next hard hitter!

Some of Your Duties & Focal Areas
  • Craft compelling pitches and press releases
  • Secure coverage and develop relationships with media and bloggers on a local and national scale
  • Participate in training sessions designed to teach you the fundamentals of PR and SEO platforms including Cision and MOZ
  • Build targeted media lists both manually and using Cision
  • Contribute ideas in creative brainstorming sessions with the PR team
  • Develop your project management skills through hands-on experience with our project management system
  • Collaborate with the entire Power Digital team to assist in cross-channel strategy sessions
  • Build your online authorship profile through published work on our agency blog

SEO Intern

Internship Term: Summer or Fall 2016
Desired Fields of Study: Advertising, Marketing
About the Company
Power Digital Marketing is one of the leading Digital Marketing Agencies in San Diego. We are headquartered in vibrant and fun Old Town, just off the 5 Freeway and a few minutes from Downtown! Our agency specializes in eCommerce and lead generation as a full service digital marketing agency. Our SEO internship will train you to be well versed in SEO and get experience with other digital channels to allow you to build a well-rounded digital marketing skillset.

Some of Your Duties & Focal Areas
  • Be prepared to learn and understand search engine optimization techniques and processes
  • Work on various on-site and off-site enhancements to client websites
  • Learn to perform analysis on websites from SEO perspective including identification of site issues, indexation issues, content or meta data issues, linking, social indicators, Google penalties, keyword opportunities, etc.
  • Learn to perform competitive analysis
  • Content development optimized for SEO
  • Learn and use Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools and other industry leading SEO tools
  • Stay abreast of changes and new algorithms
  • Organize & update meta data
  • Add keywords to existing content


Applicants should possess the following characteristics:
  • Strong interest in search marketing, advertising and or marketing
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills - thorough understanding of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive, Asana and Multiple Web Browsers
  • Time management skills -- ability to prioritize tasks for efficient execution
  • Strong work ethic -- must be self-motivated and able to take the initiative.
  • Basic understanding of HTML a plus but not required
  • Ability to function in a team environment

Paid Media Intern

Power Digital’s intern program is an opportunity for entry-level self-starters to develop their technical and managerial skills with a boutique agency team of successful, positive individuals. You will get hands-on experience with real, client-facing projects and may have the opportunity to present your work and ideas as well. You’ll be learning from a team assembled of veteran managers from enterprise agencies around town, and our goal is to train you up to become the digital space’s next hard hitter!

Some of Your Duties & Focal Areas
  • Participate in training sessions designed to teach you the fundamentals of Biddable Media
  • Support Paid Team on Paid Media projects across the following platforms: AdWords, Bing Ads, Google Display Network, Criteo, Facebook/Instagram/Twitter
  • Learn Excel and use that skill set to:
    • populate pacing docs that use advanced formulas to forecast month-end metrics for all paid media campaigns (tri-weekly)
    • Assist with weekly & monthly reporting
  • Work your way up to account management, eventually tracking budgets, and optimizing to client goals for your own AdWords account(s)
  • Develop your project management skills through hands-on experience with our project management system
  • Collaborate with the entire Power Digital Team to assist in cross-channel strategy sessions
  • Contribute ideas during brainstorming sessions and strategy meetings
  • Build your online authorship profile through published work on our agency blog

Social Media Intern

Internship Term: : Summer or Fall 2016
Desired Fields of Study: : Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing
About the internship
Power Digital’s social media interns are given a unique opportunity to get their hands dirty with actual client work. While their focus will lie primarily within social media initiatives, they will be exposed to all aspects of digital marketing, gaining a working knowledge of how each of the departments work individually and together in order to execute the bigger picture strategy. PDM’s social interns will work directly under the Social Media Manager to assist in day-to-day social channel management as well as content development, influencer relationship building, blogging, and strategic initiatives for clients. As a member of the Power Digital team, they are encouraged to share ideas and collaborate during brainstorms and strategy sessions.

Some of Your Duties & Focal Areas
  • Learn to navigate the social channels as a marketing professional - Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, G+, Linkedin, Instagram, etc.
  • Use social monitoring tools such as Hootsuite, SproutSocial, etc to monitor engagement, evaluate performance and find opportunities for connecting with users in our target
  • Understand social personas and relationship building through social content
  • Identify and engage social influencers
  • Post, comment and share on behalf of clients
  • Understand the content creation process and execute monthly content calendars - Y/k
  • Conduct daily hashtag research - y/K
  • Upload and schedule monthly social content - Y
  • Write blog posts -k
  • Create quizzes and sweepstakes using 3rd party apps
  • Optimize social pages for proper indexing
