Center For Commercialization of Advanced Technology (CCAT)
A partnership meant to change the world
The Center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology (CCAT) is a unique partnership designed to accelerate the development and application of advanced technologies to solve real-world problems. The SDSU Research Foundation, UCSD's Jacob School of Engineering and CONNECT, the Security Network and the Navy's SPAWAR Systems Center have joined together in this $29 million Department of Defense (DOD) sponsored technology commercialization program.
CCAT is designed to fast track DOD, industry and academic technologies into commercial and/or defense - related enterprises. Subject technologies may lead to new start-up ventures or be incorporated into existing companies.
CCAT offers the following services at no cost for selected technologies:
- Commercial Feasibility Studies
- Prototype Development, Test & Evaluation Funding
- Research & Development Funding
- Market Analysis Studies
- Business Plan Development
- Venture Finance Connectivity
- DOD Acquisition Assistance
Research Oppotunities
CCAT accepts rolling applications from students interested in working on teams to perform market research studies. The CCAT program is designed to fast-track Department of Defense, industry and academic technologies into commercial and/or defense related markets (http://www.ccatsandiego.org). These positions offer many benefits to students, including employment through the SDSU Foundation, flexible hours ranging from 5-20 per week, development of valuable research skills, and familiarity with process of conducting strategic assessments of technologies.

CCAT faculty supervisors will contact you directly if interested in conducting an interview. If a match is made, paperwork is coordinated through the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center and the student is hired through the SDSU Research Foundation.
