The Importance of Internships

Experience is the Best Teacher

Internships provide a great opportunity to learn valuable skills within specific fields and allow for close interaction with industry professionals. Internships, also, expand networks and produce more marketable and well-rounded candidates.

The Lavin Entrepreneurship Center's internship program offers students the opportunity to engage with local San Diego organizations. In a specialized process, employers contact our internship coordinator with candidate specifications and students are matched accordingly. The program connects employers with motivated students looking to gain meaningful experience. Undergraduate, MBA and other graduate interns can take part in the development of short and long-term projects. Strategic projects range from operations, finance, and management to business development, research and marketing.

Additionally, San Diego State University’s Career Services offers several outlets for students to jumpstart their internship pursuit. Among those is Handshake, a San Diego State University exclusive  recruiting platform for students and alumni to connect with prospective employers, showcase their resume, keep up with campus career events, and participate in workshops and information sessions.
