Rome, Italy

Dates: December 28, 2013 through January 16, 2014
Course: Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship (MGT 358)

Students meet with local entrepreneurs in Rome
Studying the fundamentals of entrepreneurship in an international context allowed students to explore market opportunities, identify products and services, and understand how entrepreneurs do business within different cultural settings; and particularly within the business environment in Rome.

Students had the opportunity to engage with five business founders in Rome and through their interactions with the different individuals they were able to acquire an understanding of the local environment in terms of entrepreneurship.

Class lectures were held at the Study Center in Corso del Rinascimento. Lectures focused on topics such as, domains of group formation, market and industry analysis, business forecasting, and target segment benefits. Students also completed various in-class activities, such as ideation exercises, individual and group case studies, and a group presentation project.

Students who participated spoke extremely positively about the experience, mentioning the opportunity to experience entrepreneurship from a global perspective and engage with company founders to learn what goes on in the local environment in terms of entrepreneurship as highlights of the course.

I look for three I's in an employee--integrity, industry and intelligence. Of the three, integrity is the most important.
